The Windham FoundationThe Windham Foundation is a nonprofit organization located in Grafton, Vt. It was founded in 1963 by Dean Mathey of Princeton, NJ, who had family ties to Grafton. His inspiration was the area's natural beauty, historic architecture and rural way of life. This resulted in the Foundation's mission that is followed today: To restore buildings and economic vitality in Grafton Village, to provide financial support for education and private charities and to develop projects that will benefit the general welfare of Vermont and Vermonters. The Windham Foundation is also the parent company of four for-profit businesses including The Old Tavern at Grafton, the Grafton Village Cheese Co., the Retreat Farm and the Grafton Village Nursery. As an operating foundation, the Windham Foundation works to ensure that the success of its subsidiary operations promotes the public good. We invite you to browse The Windham Foundation website and read about some of the programs we support...and that you support. As visitors to the Retreat Petting Farm, you become the Windham Foundation's partner in funding our philanthropic programs. |
